The Gospel Message

The Bible is the infallible and sufficient word of God

The Law

The Bible not only describes the events and manner of creation but also explains that shortly after creation, mankind brought sin into reality, leading to death and chaos. All creation groans as it passes away. In Christianity, God provided us with a moral law to help us understand our sinful nature, which we know as the Ten Commandments. Let's examine some of them to demonstrate how the law functions in our lives and the importance of repentance.

- Do not lie. Have you ever told a lie?

- Do not steal. Have you ever stolen anything, regardless of its value?

- Honor your mother and father. Have you always acted honorably toward your parents?

- Do not murder. Here is a matter of the heart, encompassing prejudice, malice, racism, sexism, envy, and strife.

- Do not commit adultery. This also pertains to the heart, including lust, pornography, homosexuality, premarital sex, perversions, and other forms of sexual immorality.

Judgement

It is clear to see from just the few points of the moral law we covered here that none of us, in our understanding of Christianity, is able, or will ever be able, to right the wrongs we have committed in our lifetimes. It is also clear that none of us will escape the judgment to come. We are all guilty of breaking the moral law in some way, and as lawbreakers, we are all worthy of punishment (Hell). The Bible tells us that creation was made perfect, but our sin caused the whole of creation to decay and die. This highlights the vital need for repentance in our lives.

Grace

However, God did right the wrong done by mankind through His only Son, Jesus Christ, who came to fulfill the moral law and to suffer the punishment we deserve. In Christianity, Jesus is recognized as the second person of the Godhead known as the Trinity. Found in human form, He was sinless and blameless. Through His death on the cross, He fully satisfied the requirements of the law, offering a path for repentance and reconciliation with God.

The return of Christ

Then he was resurrected and seated in Heaven. Soon, He will return to judge all mankind in righteousness according to the moral law and restore the creation. This message of the Gospel calls for repentance and emphasizes the core tenets of Christianity.

Repentance

In Christianity, the proper response upon hearing the Gospel is a combination of repentance and faith. We are called not only to turn away from our sinful behavior, which often conflicts with moral law, but also to turn to Jesus and trust in Him alone to redeem us back to God.
