Growing up:
Growing up in the countryside near a small South Texas town, my friends and I became very imaginative in our quest for entertainment. It was the early 1980s, before the age of widespread electronics, so we read a lot of Sci-fi books and magazines and also played many board games such as Axis and Allies, Stratego, Risk, and the like.
Also, we invented many of our own games:
*Space War: A game made from a hand-drawn chicken wire pattern on a large white bed sheet and cut-out poster board forming many different playing pieces.
*Code Name Victory – The deciding factor: Military war game built out of 2x4s and glued newspapers. We used pieces from other board games and wrote the rulebook on a TRS80 computer.
*Beer-can wars: Beer cans were filled with water and formed into vast armies, which we defeated most vigorously using BB guns and slings.
*Quadrillion-number game: Reciting an assigned large number while preventing your opponent from reciting his number first.
Eventually, I saved enough to purchase an Atari 2600 video game console, and that inspired my love for electronics, computers, and engineering.
Education and Experience:
Because I was already well-versed in mini bikes, go-karts, and tractors, I started my career as a mechanic, earning a diesel mechanics certificate and joining the Texas Army National Guard as a heavy wheeled vehicle and artillery mechanic.
Afterward, I studied electronics in Texas and Indiana, earning a Bachelor of Science degree and later a Master’s Degree in Project Management. From there, my career included roles as:
Electronics Technician, Engineering Technician, Product Engineer, Technical Manager, and Technical Support Specialist
I gained years of direct experience working in microchip manufacturing, Digital imaging, Lasers, Electronic motor controllers, Microwave sensors, Cellular Communication systems, railroad rail imaging, and the heavy electric crane industry.
Faith:
My parents were ever faithful in raising me in the Church and the Boy Scouts, where I was exposed to the Christian Faith, but after many years of public school education and studying the various sciences and technologies during college, I became confused between the two opposing Biblical and Humanistic worldviews.
Although I continued to attend church, I did not really believe in the Faith I professed.
By the will of God, while riding in a work van, I was saved by Grace when I heard God’s Law and Gospel proclaimed over the radio airwaves. It struck me to the heart, and finally, I came to understand repentance and genuine Faith.
The new life became profound in me, and I desired to tell everyone I ever knew about the love and salvation God has shown mankind through Jesus Christ. While continuing to work and live life, I also became an Evangelist.
Still, the conflict between the worldviews persisted, so I began studying Creation Science. I already had an understanding of the secular view of how the world and universe were formed, but I also began to learn the Biblical view. What I discovered only served to transform my thinking about whom and what I really trust, and to cement my hope for the future.
Why write the books:
Simply put, I want to earn the respect of the Sci-fi reading community enough to gain the opportunity to share the Gospel.
By writing exciting and engaging Science Fiction, I hope others will also allow me the time to share the Gospel, demonstrate that science and the Bible are indeed compatible, and point out the difference between what mankind believes he knows and what God has revealed in His written word.
Today I work full time in Technical Support and live with my wonderful wife, who has supported me these many years, along with some cats in the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
